Northern California is rich in some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. While the "must see" list of attractions in our region is almost too long to post, the staff at Scopa recommend these "not to be missed" regional attractions during your visit!
Nature
Pebble Beach:
Known for spectacular seascapes, rock formations framed by towering Cypress and a climate conducive to picturesque skies, Pebble Beach has it all.
California Redwoods:
While in Crescent City, plan to visit Battery Point for a tour of the lighthouse, gift shop, and grounds. The site is steeped in Norther California history; perhaps most notably as a survivor of the 1964 tsunami that struck the region. Today, the lighthouse is a private aid to navigation, but remains a favorite destination for visitors and photography buffs. Parking for visitors is available in the Crescent City Harbor lot.
Point St. George:
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Point St. George is located eight miles northwest of Crescent City. While the lighthouse visible at the site is currently inactive, the scenic location offers spectacular panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean where Norther California and Southern Oregon beaches merge. Rolling hillsides provide the perfect setting for an easy yet breathtakingly beautiful stroll to the beach. There is ample parking at the trail head.

Whale Watching:
Mainly from October through May, they can be viewed from the oceanfront porches on all our properties.
See & Learn
Crescent City:
Crescent City is the local hub for commerce in Northern California. Capital of Del Norte County, Crescent City is the site for one of the most popular 4th of July celebrations on the West Coast. Visitors can enjoy browsing art galleries, local outdoor markets, and antique shops year-round. The Annual Del Norte County Fair draws participants from near and far. We also have a local Saturday market held at the Fairgrounds.
Ocean World:
Located right on Highway 101, Ocean World is a locally owned aquarium and coastal wildlife experience. It features interactive tide pools, over one million gallons of tanks housing sharks, seals & rays, plus a shark petting experience & daily sea lion shows.

Marine Mammal Center:
The North Coast Marine Mammal Center rescues and rehabilitates sick and injured marine mammals so that they can be released back into the wild. Their mission is to educate the public about the impact humans have on marine mammals and the importance of preserving the oceans where they live.

The Harbor:
Our local harbor offers a new, state-of-the-art, tsunami resistant marina, with modern amenities for both recreational boaters and commercial fisherman. The harbor also features excellent restaurants, sea lion viewing, ocean sports rentals, fresh seafood markets, and the Whaler's Island ocean overlook.
